In
the region Languedoc, department Aude, at the foot of the Pyrenees
and in the center of the Cathar country, lies the mystic village
of Rennes-le-Château.
Many
books have been written and several documentary films are made
about this place. But the mysteries have not been solved. Just south
of Rennes-le-Château, a ten minutes walk, appears the domain of
"Les Labadous".
This
ancient Occitane word means "washing place", a place for cleansing
and purification. In the old days people used to wash their clothes
in the "Rive de Couleur" and the horses of the coaches were refreshed
from the clear springwater.
"Les
Labadous" is a special place, a place were you feel good, where
you can come to your senses, where you can successfully escape from
the hectic world we live in. A place where you will get energy back
and where your creativity will flourish again.
The
nature is rich, wild and abundant, the area is very hilly and still
unspoiled and pure. Perfect environment for a walk, for enjoying
the beautiful flowers and trees or loosing yourself in daydreams
by the river. For people interested in history or archaeology or
intrigued by mysteries this place is pure gold. Everywhere are traces
of rich and turbulent past On the mountains, in churches and castles.
In the small streets of the villages and cities and in the many
caverns and natural springs. But there are many other possibilities
for recreation varying from horse riding to ballooning. And what
to think of the delicious dishes the region has to offer and of
course the excellent wine.
Les
Labadous also serves as a Centre of Communication. Groups are welcome
for seminars, conferences, presentations, training sessions, exchanging
of ideas, brainstorming but also for parties, various celebrations
and special events. All facilities are there. A big hall with a
capacity to seat over 60 people, an open fire and a beautiful lawn
sheltered under old poplars trees. The place has a lovely view on
the snow caplets of the Pyrenean to the south and on Rennes-le-Château.
At
this moment we have five comfortable double
bedrooms all with their own bathroom. New are the four
Gites also with bathroom plus kitchen facilities. We serve a
nice breakfast and in the evening we are happy to serve a three-course
dinner, prepared with fresh products of the region.
